The research project
1 - We will help clinicians decide which models/scores to use
We will use a survey π to identify which models/scores are used and when.Β
A focussed literature review π will summarise the key evidence for the most popular models/scores.
We will run a workshop π£οΈ with anaesthetists, surgeons, intensivists and patients to:
Review the survey and review results
Shortlist models/scores which are most important to analyse further.
We will statistically validate π the shortlisted models/scores to identify which patients they work best for, and for which patients they should be avoided.
We will present our findings π on this website, and via scientific presentations and publications to give clinicians the information they need to make the best decisions for their patients.
2 - We will help ensure future models/scores help patients
We will interview ποΈ perioperative clinicians (including anaesthetists, surgeons and intensivists) to understand:
How they choose models/scores
How they use models/scores
What types of problems they would like future models/scores to help with
We will create an NHS perioperative care dataset π» which conforms to current best practices.Β
We will summarise the results of all of our research and work with respected experts in clinical medicine and predictive modelling to produce practical guidance ππ» for developers and evaluators of future predictive models.
